The Charter School of Wilmington Transfer 2026-2027 Application

The Charter School of Wilmington accepts transfer students for grades 10 and 11 on a space-available basis.  The Charter School of Wilmington does not accept transfer students into 12th grade.

 

The application will be open from March 17 through April 20, 2026. Visit schoolchoicede.org to access the application.

 

Required Documents for Transfer Applications

  1. Complete our transfer admissions assessment on April 24, 2026 (8 am- 12 noon). Your student is registered once you complete the application. The assessment includes math, reading, grammar, and an essay. A calculator will be provided for the math section. A reminder email will be sent prior to the assessment.
  2. Supply 3 emails for recommendation forms (we strongly suggest a math teacher or science teacher, others might include coach, mentor, pastor).  CSW will forward the link for recommenders to complete.

 

Students applying for the 2026-2027 school year must upload the following documents by April 24, 2026.

 

  1. Official 2025-2026 mid-year high school transcript
  2. Copies of in-class math tests/assessments from the current school year  (if available)
  3. Copies of national standardized test scores (e.g., TerraNova, Iowa, CTBS, ERB, Stanford, Smarter Balanced, STAR, DSTP, PSAT, ACT, SAT) (if available)

Admissions Interview

After reviewing submitted documents and assessment performance, students may be invited for an interview.

Accepted Transfer Students

All accepted transfer students will be required to submit an official 2025-2026 report card and transcript.

Applicants with IEPs or Section 504 Accommodation Plans

The Charter School of Wilmington (CSW) commits to support each enrolled student with an IEP (Individualized Education Program) or Section 504 accommodation plan as needed.  CSW does not need to know of an applicant’s IEP or 504 requirements until after acceptance; however, if an applicant requires accommodations for participation in our Assessment and written essay, please contact the school at least one week in advance of the applicant’s Assessment date to allow for adequate preparation time.

Who can apply for transfer admissions?

Transfer Admissions Assessment

When is the Transfer Admissions Assessment?

The assessment will take place on April 24, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at The Charter School of Wilmington.

 

Do I need to register for the assessment?

Yes, students must register by submitting a School Choice application.

 

What should I bring to the assessment?

Students should arrive by 7:45 AM. A calculator will be provided for the math section. Please bring 3 #2 Pencils. Students may also bring a water bottle and a snack.

Can 12th grade students transfer?

No, The Charter School of Wilmington does not accept transfer students into 12th grade.
